How to Fork from Wikipedia

In order to legally fork from Wikipedia, you must have the disclaimer above on the forked page. The easiest way is to copy the disclaimer code below and paste it onto your forked page. Note that you will have to insert/replace the necessary URL's (in bold) to adequately cite the original Wikipedia page.

Step-by-Step

1. Create a new topic for the forked Wikipedia content.

2. Cut and paste the content from Wikipedia that you would like to fork into the new topic page.

3. Copy the code of the Wikipedia disclaimer above and paste it at the top of your new topic page.

4. Replace the "URL to original page" section of the disclaimer to the URL that points to the forked Wikipedia page.

5. Replace the "URL to history page" section of the disclaimer to the URL that points to the history page of the forked Wikipedia page. This link is usually found at the top of the Wikipedia topic page.

6. "Save" changes.
