Title Data Sharing
Long Title Vanderbilt University "Making a New Start: With or Without Your Old Data?"
Contributor Elizabeth Heitman, PhD
CTSA Vanderbilt
Case Study Provided You are preparing to leave VUMC for an assistant professor (non-tenure track) position at a small but well-respected medical school where your mentorís former med school roommate is the department chair. In order to continue your research you would like to have access to the clinical database (just records, not samples) that you helped to build during your MSCI program. You collected original clinical research data on over 250 patients, but the database is a collaborative activity of several faculty, fellows, and residents in the division, and is supported in part by a research grant that your mentor has had for several years. You would like to follow up on two ideas that you had during your thesis research, which would require ongoing access to information from the database. Unfortunately, your new institution does not have access to REDCap.
