Description of Success |
Over the past year I believe our greatest success is the fact that the our group of 3 biostatisticians (~1.8 FTEs) has been able to interact with at least 125 different investigators from multiple disciplines. Without the support of the CTSA, we would not have been able to afford to spend time helping most of these investigators. A recent specific example of where we provided 'added value' to a project involved a pilot study protocol of a behavioral intervention, to be led by a new investigator. As it stood, the protocol's aims were essentially unattainable. In addition to helping provide a more sound statistical framework for her study, we were also able to make a number of suggestions that helped make conducting the study much more practical and feasible. Being able to see that these changes were needed comes from the experience of having been a part of the review process for so many different types of studies. |
